Installation.txt ---------------- englisch version ---------------- The following information are very important to receive a stable installation of microUSB2. Please read the document "installation.pdf" carefully and execute the installation steps completly one after the other. Recommendations and restrictions The microUSB2 CAMextension works as external frame grabber with interfaces for CameraLink and LVDS cameras and a high speed connection to the host PC over USB2. The microUSB2 CAMextension supports a data transfer rate of up to 48 MBytes per second. You need the following equipment for the operation of the microUSB2 CAMextension: - microUSB2 CAMextension frame grabber - USB2 cable for connecting the external frame grabber with the host PC - Power supply of the microUSB2 CAMextension - USB2 interfaces on the motherboard or an additional USB2 plug-in card with Intel ICH4 / ICH4-M / ICH4-R (82801 DB) or Intel ICH5 / ICH5 M / ICH-R (82801 EB) chip set. This chip sets are mandatorily required to operate with the external frame grabber in high speed mode up to 48 MBytes/sec. If your motherboard or additional plug-in USB2 card doesn’t use this chip set and the high speed mode of 48 Mbytes/sec. is not required, please contact us. In this case the firmware of microUSB2 CAMextension has to be reprogrammed. By this new firmware you will receive a high compatibility with customary USB2 controllers. However, you are only able to reach data transfer performances up to 24 Mbytes/sec. - After installation of the Silicon Software USB2 driver, further USB2 devices are being ignored at this controller. USB 1.1 equipment can, however, be operated. - This special driver was developed on a greatest possible performance and continuous image transfer of the camera. It therefore isn't possible that more than a device sends data or fetches pictures. However the devices can be operated in serial mode (only one task at the same time; no parallel processes). - The installation and the operation of further plug-in USB controllers cards (USB1.1 and USB2.0) is practicable. These controllers can be used with delivered or standard drivers. - At use of further USB2 controllers with Intel ICH4/5 chip set as plug-in card, the operation in high speed mode (48 MBytes/sec.) as further USB2-frame grabber controller with Silicon software drivers is also possible. - The USB2 controller working with Silicon Software driver is listed in the system control (hardware settings) as a multifunction adapter. - Device driver and software CD (enclosed) - Windows XP or Windows 2000 - CameraLink or LVDS camera - Optional trigger interfaces ---------------- deutsche Version ---------------- Diese Informationen sind sehr wichtig, um das microUSB2 Produkt problemlos zu betreiben. Voraussetzungen und Einschränkungen Die microUSB2 CAMextension arbeitet als externer Framegrabber mit Anschluss von CameraLink- und LVDS-Kameras und einer Hochgeschwindigkeitsverbindung zum PC über USB2. Die microUSB2 CAMextension unterstützt eine Datentransfergeschwindigkeit von bis zu 48 MBytes pro Sekunde. Für den Betrieb der microUSB2 CAMextension benötigen Sie folgende Ausstattung: - microUSB2 CAMextension Framegrabber - USB2 Kabel zur Verbindung des externen Framegrabbers zum Host-PC - Stromversorgung der microUSB2 CAMextension - USB2-Anschlüsse auf dem Motherboard oder USB2-Steckkarte mit Intel ICH4 / ICH-M / ICH-R (82801DB) oder Intel ICH5 / ICH5-M / ICH-R (82801EB) Chipsatz Dieses Chipsätze sind zwingend erforderlich, um den externen Framegrabber mit bis zu 48 MBytes/sec. zu betreiben. Falls Sie diese Ausstattung auf Ihrem Motherboard oder als externe Steckkarte nicht besitzen und auf den 48 MBytes/sec-Modus verzichten können, halten Sie bitte mit uns Rücksprache. In diesem Falle muss die Firmware der microUSB2 CAMextension umprogrammiert werden. Hierdurch erhalten Sie eine Kompatibilität mit handelsüblichen USB2 Controllern, können aber nur Datentransferleistungen bis zu 24 MBytes/sec. erreichen. - Nach Installation des Silicon Software USB2-Treibers, werden an diesem Controller weitere USB2 Geräte ignoriert. USB 1.1 Geräte hingegen können betrieben werden. - Der spezielle Treiber wurde auf eine größtmögliche Performance und Dauerbetrieb der Kamera entwickelt. Es ist daher nicht möglich, dass mehr als ein Gerät Daten sendet bzw. Bilder holt. Es können aber Geräte nacheinander betrieben werden. - Die Installation und der Betrieb von weiteren USB-Controllern (USB1.1 und USB2.0) Einsteckkarten ist möglich. Diese sind mit firmeneigenen oder Standardtreibern einsetzbar. - Bei Verwendung weiterer USB2 Controller mit Intel ICH4/5 Chipsatz als Einsteckkarte, ist auch der Betrieb des Controllers als weiterer USB2-Framegrabbercontroller mit Silicon Software Treibern im High-Speed Mode (48 MBytes/sec.) möglich. - Der mit Silicon Software betriebene USB2-Controller wird in der Systemsteuerung unter der Hardware-Einstellung als Multifunktionsadapter eingebunden und angezeigt. - Treiber- und Software-CD (mitgeliefert) - Windows XP oder Windows 2000 - CameraLink- oder LVDS-Kamera - Optionale Triggerverbindung ---------------- Mannheim, 14.01.2004 Silicon Software
